In July 2024, we made a commitment that would fundamentally change how we approach search engine optimisation – not just for our clients, but for ourselves.

For years, The Faith Agency had been offering SEO services through trusted partnerships, delivering results for clients across retail, FMCG and B2B sectors. But if we’re being honest, we’d never taken our own search performance as seriously as we should have. That changed when we decided it was time to practice what we preach.

The Decision to Invest in Ourselves

The catalyst was simple: we wanted to upskill in SEO and deliver even better outcomes for our clients. But we also recognised that the best way to truly understand search engine optimisation was to experience the challenges, wins and learnings firsthand.

So we embarked on a substantial SEO programme for The Faith Agency itself – treating our own website with the same strategic rigour we apply to client campaigns.

Starting from the Ground Up

Our first step was comprehensive keyword research, identifying 50 critical terms that represented our core services and target market. These weren’t vanity metrics – we focused on keywords that would drive qualified traffic from businesses genuinely looking for advertising and marketing support.

With our target keywords defined, we went to work enhancing our website content. Every service page, case study and blog article was optimised for search performance, but more importantly, for user experience and conversion potential.

We also began investing in off-site backlinking – a critical but often overlooked component of SEO success. Building authority through quality backlinks from relevant, reputable sources became a consistent focus.

The Starting Point

When we began tracking performance in July 2024, our baseline metrics told a familiar story for many businesses:

6 of 50 keywords ranking in Google’s top 10

3 keywords achieving top 3 positions

Web traffic under 200 monthly sessions

Online conversions minimal (just 3 per month)

These numbers weren’t terrible, but they certainly weren’t where we wanted to be for an agency of our calibre and experience.

Twelve Months Later: The Results

Fast-forward to July 2025, and the transformation speaks for itself:

25 of 50 keywords now ranking in top 10 positions

12 keywords achieving coveted top 3 rankings

Web traffic doubled from our starting point

Online conversions doubled – real business impact

But here’s what those numbers really represent: more qualified prospects finding us organically, more opportunities to demonstrate our capabilities and more businesses discovering how The Faith Agency can help them achieve their marketing objectives.

What We Learned Along the Way

This journey reinforced several crucial insights about effective SEO:

Content quality matters more than quantity. Rather than churning out blog posts for the sake of it, we focused on creating genuinely useful content that answered real questions our prospects were asking.

Technical performance is non-negotiable. Site speed, mobile optimisation and user experience directly impact both search rankings and conversion rates.

Consistency beats intensity. Regular, sustained effort delivered better results than sporadic bursts of activity.

Integration amplifies everything. Our SEO efforts worked best when combined with our existing digital advertising, content marketing and social media activities.

Not Satisfied Yet

While we’re pleased with the progress, we’re far from finished. Big changes are coming to our service landing pages, designed to better showcase our capabilities and convert more visitors into enquiries.

We’re also increasing our output of case studies and blog articles – not just for SEO benefit, but because sharing our work and insights helps potential clients understand the value we can deliver.

On the technical side, continued backend improvements are planned to drive even faster loading speeds and overall performance. In today’s digital landscape, every second counts.

The Client Impact

This investment in our own SEO capability has made us better partners for our clients. We now understand the patience required for organic search results, the importance of content strategy alignment and the technical challenges that can make or break campaign performance.

When we recommend SEO strategies to clients, we’re drawing from direct experience of what works, what doesn’t and what delivers genuine business results.

Why This Matters for Your Business

Our SEO journey demonstrates something crucial: effective search engine optimisation requires sustained commitment, strategic thinking and integration with broader marketing efforts.

It’s not about quick fixes or gaming the system – it’s about creating genuine value for users and building authority over time.

Whether you’re a retail business looking to capture more local searches, an FMCG brand building online presence or a B2B service provider wanting to demonstrate expertise, the principles remain consistent.

The Faith Agency’s experience proves that when SEO is executed strategically and integrated with other marketing activities, it delivers measurable business results. Not just traffic increases, but actual conversions and enquiries that drive growth.

Look, we’d never sit here and say that we are one of the leading search engine optimisation agencies here in Melbourne, but what we would say is that if you are after an SEO consultant to play nice with the rest of your marketing initiatives, you can trust The Faith Agency to deliver a grrrreat result.

But what does a search engine optimisation agency in Melbourne actually do? SEO has a bit of a bad rap out there due to its slightly-more-than-opaque nature, lack of immediate results and a general sense of misinformation around what it does for businesses. However, when you have the right balance of competitive, yet attainable keywords, on-page optimisation that doesn’t look like Chat GPT wrote it and backlinks that aren’t so bad, you can end up with a really nice, solidly built platform that can dramatically enhance your brand’s health and wellbeing. Think of a search engine optimisation agency as a day spa for your brand.

So, where do we start? SEO consultants will always aim to deliver you a comprehensive keyword list: phrases and terms that most appropriate reflect what your business does. This list will break down the monthly search volume, competitiveness and your current rank for each. Each brand will have a different mix depending on what they do (not to mention what they want to do as well). However, a good SEO agency will have a vested interest in you ranking well and so will develop an understanding of your product or service and will help to shift your thinking to find the perfect set of keywords.

Next up, your search engine optimisation agency will review your website and make a raft of optimisation recommendations. From titles, headers and on-page copy, to back-end updates like meta tags and internal linking, a good SEO consultant will know the dos and don’ts to ensure that your site is optimised correctly while still maintaining important tonality and presentation. After all, what’s the point of ranking well if your sentence structure is stuffed! And of course, ongoing on-page optimisation is crucial too. Blog posts, on-page copy adjustments and new landing pages can all be provided or at the very least suggested to help really move your ranks in the right direction.

Finally, and this is the hard part, begins the backlinking. Having a set of keywords is nice, and a well-optimised website is great, but without ongoing backlink building, you’ve got no hope. The really best SEO agencies in Melbourne (and indeed, globally) will have a strategy to ensure that they are building links in an appropriate manner, without any janky content going out to the masses, never really for public consumption but in such a way that makes a tangible difference to your performance. Again, it’s a difficult concept to wrap your head around, but this content is not for humans (that’s what the website is for). Instead, this is all about Google robots. But it’s easier said than done, and only the best search engine optimisation agencies can deliver quality backlinks that don’t hurt your position.

Now’s the part where I tell you to talk to The Faith Agency. Honestly, we do this for our own website (hell, that might be how you found this article in the first place) and it makes such a difference. If you want to talk about how search engine optimisation can help put your business on the map, talk to Melbourne’s top SEO agency (I know, I wasn’t going to say that, but hey, gotta optimise somewhere!).

The Faith Agency has had a long-standing relationship with Calvary (formerly known as Japara), working with them for close to 10 years. Central to that connection has been our media activities, managing various campaigns across a variety of platforms.

We want to highlight the work that we’ve undertaken with Calvary Aged Care to manage their digital media campaigns. We’ve optimized Calvary Aged Care’s Google Ads campaign by creating localised marketing strategies to support their 50+ geographically diverse homes across Australia. By targeting each location, we’ve boosted brand awareness, promoted open days, and increased occupancy with strong engagement results. We’ve seen terrific results on this campaign over many years with occupancy levels high, and high conversion rates across the campaign.

In addition to our Google Ads campaign for their Aged Care services, we’ve also begun working with Calvary Home Care. We’ve launched a national digital campaign that includes both Google Ads and Meta (Facebook & Instagram). Home Care, unlike Aged Care, allows the customer to stay in their own home, with Calvary staff visiting them on a regular basis. This sector is growing rapidly, and the national campaign has seen positive results since its inception. Building on the digital campaign, we’ve also developed a targeted radio campaign for Calvary Home care to help build awareness and ultimately increase enquiry. Another benefit of working with a full-service agency like us is that all of these individual campaigns are booked with the knowledge about each of them, often with creative services tied in, such as scripting, design and output.

As a part of our ongoing media activity with Calvary, in recent years, we’ve helped to transition their Google Analytics accounts from Universal Analytics to GA4 tracking. Recently we have assisted with the Google Tag Manager set-up for the business’ impending new website launch, including the implementation of detailed conversion tracking. And of course, as most agency’s do, we have built a uniquely customised dashboard, not just for Calvary itself, but for different units within the business, ensuring that each department has clear, sector-specific reporting and insights at all times.

We truly value our relationship with Calvary and believe that our aged care industry experience is outstanding for an agency of our size in Melbourne. For more information about our media capabilities or our NFP/health care industry experience, please browse our new website, or feel free to give us a bark.

Hi, it’s me Ben, one of the account directors here at The Faith Agency. Before I worked The Faith Agency, one of my first jobs in marketing was to handle search engine optimisation (SEO) clients for a local digital agency. While I was never responsible for the actual optimisation or link building functionality, I know just enough to help businesses set up an appropriate keyword strategy and implement it on page. While this doesn’t consist of ongoing SEO activity, it is a good start to enhance the hygiene of a site and give businesses’ marketing managers a focus for what content should be developed moving forward.

We recently completed one of these SEO hygiene projects for Spirit Technology, a fast-growing managed services business based here in Melbourne. We knew the Marketing Manager from a previous role and were tasked with helping improve the site’s standing on Google (in addition to handling some paid LinkedIn advertising activity). The background to the project is that Spirit had implemented a new website around the start of 2023 and had seen a precipitous drop in their organic search results over the following months; something was clearly not right with the new site.

Our first priority is to review the website and its content to identify what the scope of the project would contain. While SEO is an opaque combination of key signals being tweaked and aligned across the entire site, there are a few primary elements that need to be set correctly to help create the biggest impact. Having reviewed the site, it seemed that many of these weren’t implemented.

Next, we figure out the key landing pages and identify keywords that we be set for each page. While you don’t want to have the same keyword for multiple pages, you do want your keywords (key phrases, really) to be built up of similar base words so that you get a ‘halo’ effect for the site when it comes to these words. The list of pages identified in this step was 20, and we allocated specific keywords for each, all workshopped and approved by the client.

Then, it comes time to implementing. Simple things like page titles, meta descriptions and alt-tags are the first priority in the back end of the site, while reviewing on-page copy and adjusting to include references of our keywords is vitally important. At this point, decisions must be made about how optimised the site needs to be versus the impact on the legibility of the content. The question you need to ask yourself is, “are we trying to appeal to users or robots?”. We don’t recommend the full scale, heavy duty optimisation that you might have seen so prevalent 8-10 years ago; instead, a nuanced approach is always key. We want to tell Google about the site, but in a way that doesn’t impact users who end up there.

Ultimately, we worked through the 20 pages, making critical changes across the board, while also providing content ideation for future blog articles, a key function of on-going optimisation, given the need for fresh, compelling content backed up with keyword optimisation. It’s still early days, but we’ve seen a small bump in organic traffic plus a number of keywords ranking that were previously unranked or ranking in lower positions. Overall, it’s been quite a successful little campaign.

It is important to note that this isn’t the only SEO that we can do, and in fact work closely with partner agencies to help set-up ongoing SEO strategy, including backlinking, for several of our clients. SEO should never been seen as a silver bullet to deliver the unrealised activity that your business is missing, but if you are interested in learning more about how we can help your business’ web traffic grow, get in touch with us today!

In December 2019, Faith began working with managed IT service provider IT Networks to help design and develop their new website. For almost 30 years, IT Networks have been one of Melbourne’s leading managed service providers, working with businesses across Australia, particularly in the healthcare, financial services and not-for-profit industries. However, their biggest problem was that their website was out-of-date, under-utilised and lacking the personal touch that was their key differentiator.

Branding and Identity

Lacking the kind of critical thinking around their position in the marketplace and how their customers viewed them, Faith set out to determine how IT Networks could be positioned and therefore represented through their website.

After discussing with the client early on, it was identified that their biggest strength was their personalised service. IT Networks does not have a team of thousands working for them; instead, they have individuals managing each client, understanding each of their situations implicitly, with experience and history working with them.

Furthermore, after conversing with a number of their clients, IT Networks’ capability to quickly come on board, identify the issues at hand and resolve them with speed and efficiency was seen to be a large factor with continuing to do business with them.

As such, Faith sought to bring these elements to the fore when it came to their website look and feel. First and foremost, the need for clean, realistic photographs of the team was paramount. Too many managed IT service providers across Australia use plain, generic stock photography, and it shows.

When you are trying to communicate trust and effectiveness, nothing is worse than using bland photography that users may have seen a hundred times before. Our in-house photographer and creative team worked with the IT Networks team to develop a library of hero shots that would complement simple and easy to read icon-style images.

We also helped develop the new tagline for IT Networks: IT that works. Simple, effective and catchy, the tagline now accompanies the logo and will be a catch-cry across many of their external activities.

Search Engine Optimisation

One thing that IT Networks determined very early on was the need for content. Faith understands the importance of search engine optimisation and as such worked with IT Networks to determine what their priority keywords should be, based on a combination of their high-ranking and valuable existing keywords plus competitor keywords that they should be fighting for.

With each keyword mapped to a revised site map, IT Networks started to write content for each page, with Faith then optimising each piece of content for the relevant keywords. At the tail end of the development process, Faith also helped complete backend optimisation as is standard practice for search engine optimisation.

This keyword optimisation covered every page on the website, for highly relevant and well-performing keywords that could deliver IT Networks the kind of website traffic that they were craving. Coupled with a robust and effective digital display campaign, IT Networks are set to thrive in the short- and long-term.

Website Design and Layout

Of course, all of this would be moot without a sleek and clean new website. Luckily, Faith’s in-house digital development team were up to the task. Working with a simple WordPress platform, with dynamic page building functionality, we developed a look and feel that was simple and elegant to use.

Breaking down the different areas of interest on the site into groups of Service, Industries and Resources, it gives the user an immediate sense of what they are looking at. With a home page that summarises the rest of the site, almost as an executive summary, and with dynamic design throughout that gets the user to continue to scroll through, the new design is miles apart from where they were.

Video Production

One of the crown jewels of the new website was a hero video piece that was developed, filmed and edited by our video production team right here in South Melbourne. Interviewing the leading figures within the IT Networks team, as well as some of their key, long-term clients from the financial and health-care industries, we developed a solid amount of content that was then edited together to produce a very effective 2-minute piece.

As a result of our effective filming, we can now cut together more footage to create alternate videos further down the line. This kind of content capability is critical for IT Networks over the next 3-6 months, as they look to leverage their new website into increased business, especially after the coronavirus pandemic.

IT Health Score

For years, IT Networks had used a manual questionnaire to give potential businesses an insight into the health and strength of their IT security. The questionnaire was given out manually as a Word document with all answers available for review.

The strength and benefit of a tool like this is undeniable. But it needed to be leveraged in a more functional and advantageous manner for the business. We suggested including it as a lead generation device, a critical call-to-action that would be present across the site, with enhanced functionality that worked as a dynamic questionnaire.

Leading from one question to the next, before capturing users’ name, email and phone number, the questionnaire then provided a comprehensive response tailored to the answers provided. With over 30 different permutations of answers available, all custom-developed in-house, the questionnaire can grow IT Networks’ CRM database, perfect for future eDM activity, and it provides customers with a functionally beneficial piece of information that can guide their decision making into the future.
